Ontario Snowmobile Registration Requirements
Under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act, all snowmobiles operated on Ontario trails, roads, or any public land must be:
- Registered with ServiceOntario
- Insured with minimum $200,000 third-party liability
- Displaying a valid registration number on both sides of the cowl
- Carrying a valid OFSC trail permit (for trail access)
How to Register a Snowmobile in Ontario
- Visit ServiceOntario online or in person with proof of ownership (bill of sale, manufacturer's statement of origin)
- Provide identification — valid Ontario driver's licence or photo ID
- Pay the registration fee — $33 (annual)
